Born Loose

Blowout!

Hound Gawd Records, 2015

Brooklyn’s Born Loose sound like they wrote and recorded this full length in a deranged and glorious three day blackout. It also sounds like all of their favorite Stones, Stooges and Dolls LP’s had been spinning at 45 rpm for as born loose 1long as anyone could recall, and well, that’s just how they learned to play.

Lead screamer Larry May can make anything sound urgent and important. On “Fair Warning” there’s some emphatic howling over Lucky Charms and Sugar Smacks, and it seems as though somehow it matters. “Driller Killer” is so frantic, everyone’s playing sounds like they’re holding on for dear life.

If you’re giving up caffeine for some fucked up reason or another, this is a more than suitable substitute. Serving double duty, it’ll wake you up and annoy anyone who’s not like you.

Please sir, may I have some more?
