I Am
Bri Ingram
Independent Release, 2015
From Chicago comes Bri Ingram with a slick, well produced collection of songs that meld blues, pop, and modern country, with some solid rock touches, for good measure.
“Can’t Even Cry” captures the moment when there’s nothing left and it’s a good time to get a move on emotionally.“Belly of the Beast” is one of the strongest songs here. With a dramatic piano riff to push this, it’s all strut and swagger, and nothin’ but fun. It’s great piece of pop from start to finish.
“Save Me” is a bluesy, restrained, song that sounds like last call. Impassioned soul fills this ballad with some nice guitar coloring opposite Ingram’s empassioned delivery. “Little Black Dress” has a narrative on the verses remisncent of a lot of country music’s story telling. Her and the lead guitarist aren’t shy about showing off their skills.
Closing out with “Bad Bad Boy” Ingram sounds like she’s looking forward to “settle for a Bad Bad Boy.”
This is a strong collection of numbers designed to bolster and showcase her sensual and robust vocals.
Ingram may have dolled herself up in a “Little Black Dress,” but you’d be foolish to unerstimate her drive and ability.
