The Sword
w/ Purson
Live at The Social
Wednesday, May 11, Orlando FL
Wednesdays in Orlando have been blessed with some fairly phenomenal shows as of late. Sword with UK supporting act, Purson, pulled into Orlando and blew the roof off The Social.
Purson, fronted by Rosalie Cunningham, delivered a darkly enchanting set. Post psychedelic with rock moves mutated from the oaken feel of the Beau Brummels, and hard edges inspired by early 70’s hard rock outfits like Hawkwind, Purson have developed their own dramatic sound. Songs ranged from tight whirlwinds of sound, to looser, unhurried numbers. This is a band with a strong sense of self, and a beguiling singer who is hard to ignore.
The Sword took the stage before a capacity crowd. With deep, heavy grooves, the band settled into a ninety minute set of crushing metal. They delivered a massive sound and a show that was all about music. With little to no stage banter, till the end, the band locked in and focused on playing. The show spanned the bands two decade plus career, working in songs off their new album, High Country.
Everything was Heavy, heavy, heavy and this seemed to satisfy all in attendance.
